What to wear with these boots?

I have found some incredible vintage boots which are black, small heeled and very distressed. (The attached picture isn't of the actual boots, but are pretty similar).
Thing is, they're quite pricey, and quite different to what I normally go for - so what can I wear them with?

During the winter months, these would look great with a really short, chunky knitted dress and leggings.
How about with shorts and opaques ? With a lot of layers on top, perhaps a long shirt, waistcoat and draped scarf ?
