Name-plate necklace... Chavvy or cool?

I've seen Cheryl Cole with a necklace with her name on, I know they were very popular during SATC... but are they generally considered to be chavvy or cool?

I have one... ha ha I hope that doesn't make me a chav! I've had it ages, and layer it with other necklaces.

I'm not sure how to answer this as a 'Yes/no' question?! I'll assume that YES = Chavvy... ;-)

This reminds of a time a saw a girl in a shell suit wearing some big hooped earrings which had the word 'CHAN' inside the hoops - I thought it said 'CHAV' and that the girl was being ironic!

Maybe it depends on whether you have a chavvy name ;-)

No, seriously, I always thought the idea of chavs etc (when I was young we had different words, but anyway) was a bit silly anyway. Wear what you like! (Maybe this is the beer talking, of course.) I think they're cute. I wish they didn't all have curly illegible writing though.

I'm not keen to be honest. I have one with my name written in some sort of eastern script and you can't read it. I have also had a bracelet for years but never wear it. Why wear a name label?

Friends of mine bought name plate necklaces back with them from the Middle East, but with arabic letters, which adds to the mystery ! I like them but probably wouldn't bother with one if I had a long name like Anastasia or Marmaduke, could look a bit OTT.

I think these are almost as bad as the rings you can buy from Argos on them with "Mum" or "Dad" on them! The only way you can get away with wearing your name on a necklace is if you are a dog or cat and it's attached to your collar, with your owner's phone number on the back in case you get lost!
